It’s time for a Friday guest song from my friend, and writer of Sex and The Sippy, Brit:
I named my surfboard after this song. It's a pink longboard I found on Craigslist that I call Birdie. The first time I heard this song was in the Spring of 2021 while in the North Shore on Oahu. My friend played it on the radio in the car and everyone but me sang along. I had just gotten dumped and this song HIT.
This song sounds like longing and a warm breeze. It feels devastating and light. To me, it's sitting on your surfboard while the waves bob you up and down and all around.
I recently played this song for a guy and we laughed about the one brother's lisp together, "s-th-seabird, s-th-seabird, fly home". I'm back in the North Shore right now and have been listening to this song a lot. I'm excited to fly home.
Thanks for listening,
Brit
