I don’t know if it was “grind” culture or capitalism, or something like that, but I feel like we’ve ruined mornings. And I love mornings.
Too often its rushed, red-eyed, full of stresses and feels like it’s pulling you away from the safety of sleep. It can be the worst part of the day.
But every so often there’s a truly great morning. The way mornings were intended to be. Mornings that feel like you’re still dreaming. You’ve slept in, you feel settled and restful, the sun comes in through the window. You make a cup of coffee, put on some music, and think about the day you want to have.
This song, “Tezeta” by Mulatu Astatke, feels like one of those mornings. It feels like a new day.
My friend Ramón showed it to me a while back and I haven’t stopped going back to it.
I wonder if it makes him think of mornings too.
Thanks for listening,
Will
