A while back I was digging around in the crates of the world’s best record store, Rebel Rouser, and found a cheapish album from a band called “The Nils”. I hadn’t heard of them but I liked the cut of their jib, or whatever. The album cover showed them all decked out in flannel, blue jeans, shaggy hair, and a Jellyfish-esque top hat. I was in.
I gave it a spin in the store and what followed was “River of Sadness”, what has become one of my all-time fav ‘80s alt-rock songs.
To me, it sounds like if The Replacements and Hüsker Dü had a Canadian baby. A really cool Canadian baby.
But you can draw your own conclusions.
Thanks for listening,
Will
So good
