Remember when every movie used to start with the teenage protagonist skateboarding or rollerblading somewhere, usually to school?
They’d grab some toast as they launch out of their suburban home, latching onto a truck that effortlessly pulls them through the streets of their small town. Usually a sprinkler or dog was involved, perhaps a newspaper was flung.
I’ve never made a movie, but if I did, I’d open the movie with a scene like that and I’d have “Commerce, Tx” by Ben Kweller playing the whole time.
Thanks for listening,
